St. John's School receives Development Permit approval for expansion

November 17, 2009

On November 17th, 2009 St. John’s School received a Development Permit for expansion of the school, which will include a new full-sized gymnasium, additional classrooms and renovations to the current building. The Building Permit was issued shortly after, and construction began in late 2009 on phase one (new gym and classrooms). Phase two will include additional new classrooms and renovation to the existing school. These changes will allow St. John’s to increase enrolment from 342 to 558 students.

St. John’s is an Independent school for grades K to 12 and is an International Baccalaureate School. Brook has been involved with the school since 2005, assisting them with feasibility analysis, land acquisition, public consultation and the development application process. Brook also helped assemble and manage the project team of Cornerstone Architects, Durante Kreuk Landscape Architects and Bunt & Associates Transportation and Engineering.

We would like to offer our congratulations to Stephen Hutchison, Head of School, Brian Callahan, Executive Director, Business Operations, David Dale-Johnson, Board of Governors, and wish the staff and students of St. John’s school the best of luck in their new school!
